All LPG gas cylinders, including spare, empty and those in use, should be:

• Located outside the accommodation.

• Securely fixed in a sealed locker that is fitted with a drain at the bottom, which leads overboard above the waterline.

• Turned off after every cooking or heating session – not just at the end of the day.

• Checked carefully for a leak after changing.

• Shut in an emergency.

When using the appliance:

• Light the match, lighter, etc before the valve is opened.

• Shut the cylinder valve before shutting the appliance valve to burn off any fuel in the line.

• Ensure the appliance valves are shut before the cylinder valve is turned on.
